The National Indigenous Affordable Housing Corporation’s purpose is to work cohesively and cooperatively with federal, provincial, and local governments toward a collaborative approach to Housing Affordability within Canada.

Our focus is the low to middle-income families and individuals that are “missing from the missing middle”. Affordable Housing and Home Ownership should not be out of reach for First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and other visible minorities within the communities they call home.

It is important to explore ownership opportunities of proposed affordable housing demonstration projects across Canada. We are calling on the Federal, Provincial and Local Governments to implement realistic and achievable solutions to the affordable housing crisis.

Vision

Working with Federal, Provincial and Local Governments towards the implementation of planning frameworks that focus on the creation of affordable homes for low to middle-income families.

To create Affordable Housing Demonstration projects across Canada for First Nations, Inuit, Metis, and Minority Communities.

MISSION

The National Indigenous Affordable Housing Corporations is calling upon Federal, Provincial, and Local Governments and Municipalities as well as Civil Society Organizations and the Canadian Home Building Industry to join us in a bold new action plan to address the affordable housing crisis. We need realistic and practical solutions that provide low to middle-income families and individuals that are “missing from the missing middle” with new housing options now.

After months of engagement with international and local experts, they have determined that the implementation of new planning frameworks that focus on the creation of affordable homes for low to middle-income families is the most effective and expeditious way to address this critical issue.

This can be accomplished on the national and municipal level by introducing new planning frameworks and policies that allow for more affordable forms of housing in existing neighborhoods that are predominantly single-family. Increasing affordable housing options is paramount in helping low to middle-income families achieve the dream of homeownership.

The Proposed Affordable Housing Demonstration Projects framework and plan is aimed at achieving this vision. This framework is expected to continue to evolve and various levels of government, non-government stakeholders, and other First Nations join in this initiative and turn the policy framework into meaningful and immediate action.
